Once upon a time, there was a little red hen who lived on a farm. One day, she decided to plant some seeds to grow some wheat. She worked hard all day, tilling the soil and planting the seeds.
When the seeds started to grow, the little red hen said to her animal friends, "Who will help me harvest the wheat when it's ready?"
"Not I," said the cat.
"Not I," said the dog.
"Not I," said the duck.
"Well, I guess I'll have to do it myself," said the little red hen.
She worked hard all summer, tending to the wheat and making sure it was well watered and fertilized. When the wheat was finally ready to harvest, the little red hen said to her animal friends, "Who will help me gather the wheat and make it into flour?"
"Not I," said the cat.
"Not I," said the dog.
"Not I," said the duck.
"Well, I guess I'll have to do it myself," said the little red hen.
She gathered the wheat and ground it into flour, and then she said to her animal friends, "Who will help me make the dough and bake it into bread?"
"Not I," said the cat.
"Not I," said the dog.
"Not I," said the duck.
"Well, I guess I'll have to do it myself," said the little red hen.
She made the dough and baked it into a delicious loaf of bread. When it was finished, the little red hen said to her animal friends, "Who would like a slice of bread?"
"I would!" said the cat.
"I would!" said the dog.
"I would!" said the duck.
The little red hen gave them each a slice of bread, and they all sat down and enjoyed it together. From then on, the little red hen's animal friends were always willing to help her, because they knew that it's important to be kind and helpful to others.
This story teaches children the value of hard work and helping others, and shows that it's always better to be kind and helpful than to be selfish.
